Dancing is one of the best ways to express joy. You may not have had two right feet to dance away your blues, but it’s super fun to take your hair down and dance away like nobody’s watching. Now that we are onto the topic of dancing, let’s discuss a few films based on the favorite thing to do in the world!

Yeah, we are talking about dancing. Films have shown it all, right from jazz, to cha cha cha, to bachata to ballet! Well, we don’t know whether it happens to you too, but whenever we listen to a piece of dancing music. And in most cases, we choreograph the moves in our heads! Well, we are closet dancers who can dance vicariously just by staring at the large screen goggle-eyed! So, here are a few dance movies that always make our feet tap, whether or not to the music's beats, well we will discuss it on another day! For the time being, though, let’s relive the dancing moments of some of our favorite movies!

Shall We Dance?

You can love her, you can hate her, but you cannot ignore the inimitable Jennifer Lopez. She plays a ballroom dancer who teaches a man with two left feet to loosen up and get the zing back into his life! Even if you never took an interest in ballroom dancing until now, you will do so after watching this movie. Well, with an instructor like Paulina ( Jennifer Lopez), you can’t just stop yourself from swaying to the beats of Latin American music! Richard Gere, ever the charmer, looks the part and plays the part from a non-dancer to a dancer with great aplomb.

Another Cinderella Story

If you have watched Hilary Duff’s iconic Cinderella Story, then you won’t feel that its sequel will be as good! With a wonderful Tango dance sequence between Selena Gomez and Drew Seeley, this movie has great dancing pieces.

Okay, when we look at Selena Gomez in her red tiered dress and golden masque, we all want to be that girl. We would love to start dancing and forget the world is watching! The mirror sequence is also worth a watch.

Hustlers

Jennifer Lopez is at it again, and her amazing toe to toe pole dancing is nothing short of amazing. We are sure that she did not get here in one day and has undergone rigorous training. This is all the more true for her famous pole scene in “Hustlers,” as she portrayed the role of choreographer and dancer. Pole dancing requires a lot of strength to nail the dance moves and trust JLO to master the moves. Well, her gravity-defying stunts made hard look effortless.

Dirty Dancing

Dirty Dancing is the ultimate dance movie. With a dance instructor like Johny Castle, we will never hang up our dancing shoes like ever. Frances Houseman (Jennifer Grey) had the best summer of her life at a resort when she meets up with Johny Castle (Patrick Swayze). The final dance moments are bound to give you gooseflesh. The movie is full of such iconic moments.

Center Stage

Well, the movie is famous for several things besides dancing. You get to spot a young Zoe Saldana and Peter Gallagher. Also, Olympic gold medalist Ilia Kulik danced like a dream to Michael Jackson and Jamiroquai's beats. This movie could serve as an inspiration board if you wanted to pursue a ballet dancer's career.

The film is all about 12 dancers who join the American Ballet Academy to learn dancing. Watch it for the amazing dance sequences and the inspirational message at the end that tells you to dance, pursue your dreams despite the odds against you. The film is twenty years old and stands as relevant as ever. Take a look and enjoy some priceless ’dance’ moments.

So, these are a few of our favorite dance movies! While we have only covered a few, there are many dance movies out there that can inspire you to take up your dancing shoes. “This world we live in is the dance of the creator. Dancers come and go in the twinkling of an eye, but the dance lives on.” Well, we sign off with a quote from the most iconic dancer the world has ever seen, Michael Jackson!
